Andrew Wyeth died today, and I was thinking about all the ways he inspired modern artists and how his paintings are such icons in our culture. I think that an Andrew Wyeth Etsy Friday is appropriate.
I love the starkness of this photo by Ashleighmeagan. It has this quote as its title:
I prefer winter and fall, when you feel the bone structure of the landscape – the loneliness of it, the dead feeling of winter. Something waits beneath it, the whole story doesn’t show. Andrew Wyeth
I love this photo entitled Farmhouse by jdmphotographs. It’s like an updated version of the “Christina’s World”. Black Apple mentioned her shop on her blog, and I just love it. Check out this photo that was taken in the schoolhouse of an old abandoned mental institution village in Princeton, NJ. Awesome.
This Stephen Isle Wren Oil Painting by Transcendent Bird is oil and egg tempera. It’s not in the Andrew Wyeth style, but it’s in the egg tempera that he loved to use. I love the series that this artist is doing- she’s painting pictures with extinct species. Visit the shop to get information on a few beautiful extinct birds.
Have a happy weekend!!
