After 78 years of printing its own materials, last summer the city of Boston closed down its printing plant. I guess I understand that it’s a lot cheaper for the city to do that work in house, but it’s pretty sad. I don’t know what other large cities do, but goverment employees lost their jobs, a city institution was closed, and a lot of really amazing old equipment felt silent for the first time in 78 years.
Well, now they are auctioning off the old supplies on February 24 at 11 AM live and online.
Anyone need a printing press? I’d sure like one.Source: Boston.com
