I don’t really get Groundhog Day- wasn’t it a much bigger deal when we were kids? I remember coloring groundhogs and learning all about the day. Now, I feel like I never know it’s groundhog day until after he’s seen his shadow and we’re having 6 more weeks of winter. AND when was the last time the groundhog didn’t see his shadow for that matter? I can’t remember when we ever weren’t going to have 6 more weeks of winter. None the less- it’s a fun holiday. Way better than ,a href=”http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2010/02/01/without_groundhogs_alaska_to_celebrate_marmot_day/”>Alaska’s. I guess they can credit Sarah with doing something while she was in office there. And- aren’t groundhog marmots?

I thought this groundhog named Brigid by Mamaroots was way too cute not to share. Mamaroots info on groundhog day is definitely worth the look. And look- she sees her shadow. Big suprise.

Because it certainly hasn’t been blogging!!
I don’t know why this January feels like it’s been super busy- with a couple trips to NJ and a lot of class, I feel like I’ve just been running around all month!! Let’s hit on some of the highlights, shall we?
I have been knitting fingerless mitts!

I went to see my Awesome cousin, Hannah in Philly at the Tin Angel!

I visited the cutest baby ever!

Saw some waterlillies

and an awesome Tim Burton exhibit at Moma with Jessie and Hannah!

Did a cleanse for the new year-

And you know- we’ve been working on buying a house.
And January is almost over! Crazy!

WOW! I can’t believe it’s already January 13th! I started writing this post 2 weeks ago, but I guess I was holding onto 2009 a little too much, and just couldn’t put it all behind me.
Happy New Year!

1. Kate 2 fm, 2. Kate fm, 3. Maryanne fm, 4. Corey’s Hat, 5. Yellow Fingerless Mitts, 6. Liz’s Shawl, 7. Multicolor Baby Booties, 8. Porom Mitts, 9. honeycomb hat 5, 10. Liz with scarf!
This year I’ve been putting most of my creative energy into school, so my knitting has been very down. I did work a bunch on Ben’s sweater which, it seems, will NEVER be done. My biggest accomplishment was definitely Liz’s shawl that I gave her for graduation. I kind of can’t believe I knit it. I knit a bunch of things to sell this eyar. All those fingerless mitts, and my honeycomb hat is still for sale in my etsy shop.
I did not complete most of my knitting resolutions for 2009, but I’m really looking at 2009 and as rebuilding year (Isn’t that what they always say when a sports team is awful one year?). A year with lots of planning and lots of dreaming. The only project I finished for myself this year was the purple fingerless mitts, and I totally lost one on the T.
My only knitting resolutions for 2010 is to finally finish Ben’s sweater, and get in front of my custom orders, and get some knitted things up in my etsy shop!
In life- I’m trying to be more creative everyday, eat healthier which includes a 2 week detox that I”m presently doing, and to promote myself more. I have 8 more months left in my graphic and web design program, and I need to have a plan for when that finishes!
HAPPY 2010! I hope it lives up to all the promise it holds–

I’ve been quite delinquent about my Etsy Fridays lately, so I believe I owe you three! Since one of my new years resolutions is to be a better blogger, let’s have at it- I’m going to try to get you three color themed etsy Fridays by New Years!
Let’s start with Purple, it being my current favorite.–

I love this Orchard Labrynth Necklace by Sora Designs. I love the color (obviously), and the dainty little ferns leaf.

I want this Pleated Neckline Top by Linola. It would be the perfect addition to my work wardrobe!

I would like to invite this Knitting Nerd Print by Layren Gregg home to live with me. I love her retro illustration style, and who doesn’t love a knitting bat?

These Purple Magnolia Notebooks by Shoofly totally ring my bell. The illustration is beautiful.

For Christmas my boss gave me this realy cute little tree. You set it up in it’s little dish, add a slightly gooey water to it, and wait. In six hours you have a full tree! It was pretty awesome to watch, and I feel like it needs to be shared!

or- check out the slideshow!
Happy almost Christmas!!

This week I received an order for a personalized pickle ornament on etsy, and I love how it came out!
There’s a German tradition in which a pickle ornament is placed on the tree on Christmas Eve and the first child to find it on Christmas gets an extra present. I love making these little guys- eventhough I’m not particularly German I love a pickle on my tree.

The completed pickle! Ready for Christmas action!

The back–

This is a close up of the embroidery.
I reposted it in my shop! It makes a great stocking stuffer!

I know what we need this lovely (freezing!) Saturday- a new kitty picture!

Cleopatra likes to lounge in this chair while Q watches her from the couch. Look at those eyes!
HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!

I feel like Holiday cards are a test. I know that sounds crazy, but it seems to me that if you get your cards sent out in a timeley manner, and your cards are cute and meaningful – you win as a person. I mean- is that crazy? Every year December comes around and I pester Ben to bring the holiday cards home, he shows up with them on
December 23rd, and we fail as adults. Over and over again. I’m hoping this year that we do a little better, and me being in charge of the cards would go a long way toward a victory. ANYWAY- let’s get on with it!

These Christmas Ornament Cards by Oh So Good are oh so cute! I love the ribbon detail!

The elephants on these Holly Jolly Elephant Cards by Red Bird Ink are charming. Very unexpected, but delightful!

This Christmas Stories Card by Freshly Skweezed is beautiful, but my favorite part is the library card sleeve on the inside that reads “We’d like to renew our holiday greetings”. PERFECT!

This Oh Christmas Tree Card by Studio B Design is a great use of Garamond, and a great card. Totally cool enough to send to all of your graphic design friends!
Good luck writing out your Holiday Cards this weekend! Oh- AND HAPPY HANNUKAH!!
