Etsy Friday

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am SERIOUSLY craving sweet potatos.  That’s right- this Etsy Friday is all about sweet potatos.

I LOVE this print by Ashley G entitled “Sweet Potatoes“.   It’s so sweet.

This sweet potato colored necktie by Me and Matilda would make the perfect Thanksgiving tie!  Everyone will wish they had dressed to match a side dish after you look so chic doing it!

Mmmm.  What perfect soap to have in your bathroom when the fam shows up for Thanksgiving.  Sweet Potato Pie Soap by Savor would also make a great stocking stuffer for oh um- anyone!

oooh- knit your self a sweet potato pie with this beautiful fingering weight merino by Springvalley Yarns.

This yam fingerpuppet by felt playground rocks my socks.  I feel like their Thanksgiving fingerpuppets would be a great addition to the table (kids or adults!)

Numbers

I made these cute numbers for a bake-off we had at work, and I thought they would be a fun thing to share.

I used strips of paper and folded it in three places to create three sides and a tab for gluing.  They were easy to move around.  They stood on their own but also worked with stands.

I tried to use very Autumnal colors. I think you could use them for place cards or for table numbers for your holiday feasts. Or you can have your own bake off!

Sometimes it’s hard to see how beautiful everything is around you when you’re rushing from place to place.  Unfortunately this week I’ve been doing a lot of rushing.  Fortunately I had time for a beautiful sunset.

Apple Cider Donuts

I made Apple Cider Donuts yesterday. Growing up in South Jersey, they were a Autumn staple. I never got any this year! Ben had a party at work, and when he asked me to cook for it I knew what I had to make. YUM! I used Smitten Kitten’s recipe. They were awesome!! I’m so not ready to let go of Fall!

It’s that time of year again…

If you’re a crafter, I”m sure you’ve felt the creeping sensation that starts around late October.  It sorts of grabs hold of you, and you can’t sit still without thinking about it.  It’s not a bad feeling- it’s holiday crafting stress.  I mean, I love making Christmas presents for my friends and family, but it does need to be planned.  All week I’ve been trying to get my husband to talk about our holiday plan on the way to work.  Are we going to make a calendar?  Pot holders?  Cookies?  And what about our families?  Should we get the joint gifts?  Does your sister need more scarves?  It can be daunting, so I’ve been spending some time on Etsy trying to find supplies to spark a great idea!

I love these Organza Flowers by Milky Supplies.   Not only would these be adorable embelishments on any hat, headband, or broach; they would be fantastic to wrap presents with!  And very cost effective!!

This pile of felted wool by Barely Knit Together is a great starting point whether you want to make cosies or wrist warmers or little bags or stuffed animals!

I love these Felt Beads by Handmade Felts.  These would make a beautiful necklace or bracelet! 

This Superwash Merino by Gaslight Dyeworks has the best name: Fight Club!  Of course, now we can’t talk about it.

I LOVE THIS APPLE FABRIC FROM MATERIAL GALS STORE!!!  This would make the best project bag  and then you could cut out the apples from the scraps and embroider them on things!!!  SHIRTS!  Oh my gosh- I need this fabric!

NEW FO!

I feel like it’s been SO LONG since I’ve had an FO!  And this one is pretty small–

I knit myself some fingerless mitts!

I simply LOVE them. The yarn is from Ingrid who lives in New Hampshire and hand dyes these beautiful yarns and then sells them to my super sweet class mate so she can give them to me on my birthday! I’m not sure what the fiber content is, but I’m pretty sure it’s alpaca and I LOVE IT. Perfectly soft, beautiful colors= LOVE.

I am definitely going to write up a pattern for these. Mostly because they were so simple and I can still remember everything I did! They are ribbed with a irish moss stitch palm for sturdiness.

They are going to be with me all Winter!

too awesome, right?  I’ve been obsessing over the perfect headpieces.

I don’t know if I can pull of this gorgeous Graphic Camelia Cocktail Hat by Emilliner.  I’d love to try, though.

I love that this English Garden Headpiece by Little White Dresser can also be worn as a headband.  The roses are so gorgeous!

GASP!  This royal blue cloche by Behida is AMAZING!  It’s making me wish that I was being a flapper for Halloween!

How sassy is this birdcage veil with blue headpiece by Tie and Feathered?!  SO SASSY!

Our new kitty!!

We inherited a new kitty last Sunday! Her name is Cleopatra, and she is a very sweet, very fluffy kitty!

Welcome Cleopatra!

Queen Elizabeth and Cleopatra have only met once, and It was a pretty promising meeting.  Neither was overly hostile, and I’m hoping they become friends (or at least indifferent roomates) soon!  Queen Elizabeth is constantly looking up towards my studio which is Cleopatra’s safe room, and Cleopatra seems to always want to get out.  Tonight we are having their second meeting.  I can’t wait to see what happens!!  (I’ll try to get some better pictuers then!)
